Villa Kostos
This property is a one-of-a-kind residence that offers a panoramic view of the sea and the nearby island of Naxos from one side, and the rural mainland of Paros from the other.
The objective was to construct an elegant and contemporary home for a Swiss couple. To achieve this, we incorporated marble frames, similar to those used in Venetian noble houses in the past, for all windows and doors of the house. Additionally, we added a Pronaos – Narthex for the main entrance of the villa inside the courtyard. Large marble slabs with an antique finish measuring 1.20 x 1.20 were used in all floors. The thick beams in all rooms, measuring 25 x 25 cm and 9.00 m long, were sourced from Northern Greece and are the same beams used for the gabled roofs in the area.
To surround the house, we planted a small olive grove to provide the family with their own olive oil, as well as a small vineyard for their wine. As such, we restored the old ‘patitiri’ which was previously used as a wine press. For the planting of the 10,000 m² property, we preserved the natural vegetation where possible and introduced Mediterranean and native plants that are both more tolerant to the extreme weather conditions of the island and require minimal watering.
Visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the property using the distinctive footpath lined with marble and stone curbs. This will allow them to appreciate the picturesque views of the landscape, the lush garden, and the villa itself.
